THE PARIS FINANCIAL MARKETPLACE COMMITTED TO SUSTAINABLE FINANCE AND A LOW-CARBON ECONOMY
In 2008, the Paris Marketplace launched a major initiative on sustainable finance, with the signature of a “Responsible Investment Charter”, which was supplemented in 2012 by “10 proposals for Europe on SRI and CSR”. These proposals have been incorporated in the Marketplace’s strategic priorities for Europe and the international sphere, notably in the context of G20/B20 meetings.
With the 21st United Nations conference on climate change, the COP21, being held in Paris, 2015 was marked by a step change in the Paris Marketplace’s commitment to sustainable and environmental finance, through three initiatives:
- Organising Climate Finance Day, at the end of the 1st ever Climat Week Paris in May in Paris, a major event to mobilise the financial sector on climate change in preparation for COP21 ;
- Signature of a joint declaration on climate change by Paris Marketplace players in May 2015 and a new commitment against global warming on the occasion of the 2nd Business and Climate Summit held In London on 28 and 29 June 2016.
- Publishing a Green Bonds guide, to showcase French players’ commitment to and expertise on “green” bond issues.
Our objective now is to make the Paris Marketplace’s environmental and sustainable finance activity more durable and better known and to develop exchanges in Europe and internationally in these various areas: climate finance, green bonds, SRI and CSR, corporate governance and the Sustainable Stock Exchange Initiative, led by Euronext.
In May 2016, Paris EUROPLACE launched a new initiative called "Paris Green & Sustainable Finance Initiative", which became "Finance for Tomorrow" in June 2017
Finance for Tomorrow is an initiative led by the players of the Paris Financial Center to promote sustainable finance in France and internationally. This contributes to shifting financial flows ("Shift the Trillions") towards a low carbon and inclusive economy, in line with the Paris Agreement
Finance for Tomorrow mobilizes and federates private, public and institutional actors willing to commit themselves to a finance that is based on a sustainable future and combines long-term investment and environmental and social challenges. With this initiative, Paris EUROPLACE wants to make of the Paris Financial Center , both in Europe and internationally, the leading market for financing of sustainable development.
