A FINANCE SECTOR WORKING TO SUPPORT CLIMATE ACTION

ON THE ROAD TO COP22!

The Paris financial marketplace will pursue the movement that began in 2015 during the Climate Finance Day and the COP21 conference, mobilizing all of the financial sector and developing exchanges with emerging countries.

Paris EUROPLACE is in contact with the Moroccan authorities responsible for the COP22 conference, which will take place from 7-18 November 2016 in Marrakech. Discussions are progressing with Casablanca Finance City Authority about the organization of a Climate Finance Day 2016 in Morocco for COP22.

CLIMATE FINANCE DAY

On May 22th 2015, Paris EUROPLACE joined forces with the European Investment Bank and Caisse des Dépôts Group to organize "Climate Finance Day” in Paris, a crucial step in the mobilization of the financial sector before COP21.

The Climate Finance Day was the culmination of Climate Week Paris and brought together more than 1000 high-level international participants representing the financial sector – issuers, bankers, insurers from the public sector, European and international organizations – all engaged in the fight against climate change.

During the day, around 30 of the financial world's movers and shakers set out the finance sector's best practices, commitments and innovative thinking and emphasised their support for public and private investment in favour of climate action. To achieve the goal of limiting global warming to 2°C and directing capital into an extensive overhaul of our economic models, these pioneer moves must become standard practice in the financial sector.
