Climate Finance Day 2016

Casablanca Finance City organizes on November 4 in Casablanca the Climate Finance Day 2016. This conference will be in line with the COP 22 in Marrakech from November 7 to 18, 2016.

Paris EUROPLACE, the organization in charge of promoting and developing the Paris financial marketplace, organized the 1st Climate Finance Day last year in Paris in the context of COP21, and will hand over the baton to CFC for the 2016 edition.

Indeed, after the Paris agreement last December, we must now turn ambition into action: Channeling financial flows towards low carbon trajectories is among the major objectives of the agreement (Article 2). The intense mobilization of international climate finance stakeholders in 2015 made this ambition realistic. In this perspective, the Climate Finance Day 2016 will highlight a range of solutions to support this new stage.

“Mobilizing financing in the context of the implementation of the Paris agreement” will be the main theme of the Climate Finance Day 2016.

In particular, The Climate Finance Day will tackle the necessary frame conditions to scale-up green financing and the issue of mobilizing the private sector for the climate agenda internationally and in Africa more specifically. In addition, the conference will propose two sectorial focus:The first one on financing sustainable agriculture for adaptation & mitigation, and the second on funding the energy transition (renewable energy & energy efficiency).

International investors, DFIs, international institutions key representatives, opinion leaders, think tanks…will attend the Climate Finance Day 2016 which ambitions to propose pragmatic recommendations to foster international climate agenda financing. Among the Climate Finance Day 2016 prestigious partners, we can cite Paris EUROPLACE, the African Development Bank (AfDB), the International Development Finance Club (IDFC) or the United Nations Principles for Responsible Investment (UN PRI).
